Phenyl-alpha-naphthylamine

Phenyl-alpha-naphthylamine is an excellent antioxidant for synthetic fluids and mineral oils. It is particularly useful in high temperature applications, such as aviation turbine engine oils, and in the formulation of high performance industrial oilsand greases.

Phenyl-alpha-naphthylamine is used in the manufacture of aviation turbine engine oils mecting MIL-1-23699 and MIL-L-7808. These specifications use the FTMS 791C 5308.7 procedureas a measure of oxidation and corrosivity protection. Results show the superior performance of Phenyl-alpha-naphthylamineover the octylated phenyl-alpha- naphthylamineantioxidant. This performance, along with its lower cost, makes Phenyl-alpha-naphthylamine apreferable product.

 

HANDLING INFORMATION

Phenyl-alpha-naphthylamine is a solid at room temperature that can be readily solublized in synthetic and mineral oils. This material should be stored in a cool, dark and dry area.
